Parents’ Prayers Part 4: Change My Child’s Community

New Life Ranch is about more than just a great experience for your child, it’s also an opportunity for God to work in his or her heart in life-changing ways. While you may not physically be here with your child, you can stay close by spiritually supporting him or her through prayer. To help you with this, we’re including a series of parents’ prayers on our blog this summer. A new prayer will be posted every Monday and each one will tie into this summer’s “change agent” theme. You’ll be able to access the other prayers in the series so we invite you to keep coming back. We want the work God begins in your child’s heart to continue long after he or she returns home. Thanks for joining us in asking God to make your child a “change agent” for His Kingdom this summer and for a lifetime.

When we have the opportunity to help anyone, we should do it. But we should give special attention to those who are in the family of believers.
Galatians 6:10 ICB

Lord,

You created us for relationships and community.

Yet sometimes we can get so caught up

in our own lives and families

that we forget about the people around us.

So today I ask for a bigger perspective,

especially for my child this summer.

Give him a heart that cares about

our neighborhood, community,

nation, and even the world.

I pray he will see differences

not as reasons to walk away

but instead as reasons to offer

love and grace in the name of Christ.

You are raising up a new generation of leaders

and my child is a part of Your plan.

So I ask that even now You will

be teaching and training him

to make a difference in ways

that reach far beyond our family.

Amen.
