Parents’ Prayers Part 7: Change My Child’s Character

New Life Ranch is about more than just a great experience for your child, it’s also an opportunity for God to work in his or her heart in life-changing ways. While you may not physically be here with your child, you can stay close by spiritually supporting him or her through prayer. To help you with this, we’re including a series of parents’ prayers on our blog this summer. A new prayer will be posted every Monday and each one will tie into this summer’s “change agent” theme. You’ll be able to access the other prayers in the series so we invite you to keep coming back. We want the work God begins in your child’s heart to continue long after he or she returns home. Thanks for joining us in asking God to make your child a “change agent” for His Kingdom this summer and for a lifetime.

People look at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

1 Samuel 16:7 ICB

Lord,

You tell us that it’s not what people see on the outside

but what’s inside that truly matters to You.

We know character is the foundation of who we are

and it can only come from a relationship with You.

So I ask You would build the character of my child this summer.

Please teach her about kindness, love, grace, and patience.

Where there are weak spots, reveal and strengthen them.

Where she is already solid, make those places even firmer.

Send her godly friends to support her in following You.

If there are people in her life who tear her down,

please gently remove them and replace them with others.

Give her mentors who are further along in their faith

and wise teachers who will show her how to walk with You.

Please show me how I can develop character in her as well.

Thank You for being even more committed

to the character of my child than I could ever be

and for carrying on Your work in her life

until it is completed in heaven one day.

Amen.

Pictures: Summer Camp Week Seven – Sunday

International week started well.  After orientation and the cookout, we had our first chapel session.  This week we will be learning about God’s plan for us as change agents.  The night ended well with quick dip for the juniors and MCP Live for the seniors.

The Nehis arrived back from their caving trip just before lunch today and jumped right back in serving with cheerful attitudes as they have been doing all session.  Today marks the last full day of session three.  The leadership development teams have learned a lot these past two weeks, both about themselves and about Jesus.

Tropical week here at the Ranch is coming to a close tonight.  Testimony services are about to begin and the day will end with NLR Unplugged.  It has been a great week of camp.  We had fun with friends, both new and old, and learned about God’s plan for us as change agents.
