What is your favorite weekly theme?  I am rather fond of Decades Week because the costumes and skits tend to be pretty ridiculous and funny.  And ridiculous and funny is really what the theme’s for the week are about.  It gives everyone a chance to let loose and have a Halloween of sorts during the summer (one summer when I was a counselor, for Superhero week I wore a full-fledged Batman costume my grandmother made for me when I was 8).

There is actually a lot of discussion and debate when it comes to the theme’s for the weeks, and most of the conversation centers around what are some new theme’s we could do.  A couple of years ago we introduced Animal Kingdom as a theme, and it has been a huge success.  So that got us to thinking, what other awesome theme ideas are out there that we haven’t thought of yet?

So this is where you (and the contest) come in.  We have 7 of 8 theme’s for the week already picked out:

Western
Super Hero
Sports
Decades
Holiday
International
Animal Kingdom
Now we want you to come up with the 8th theme!  Maybe you have thought “Oh man, Movie Character Week would be so fun!”  or “What about Beach Week as a theme?”  Well now is your chance to make that happen.
The contest will work like this:
1. Leave a comment on the Facebook fan page or this blog with your idea for a weekly theme.  This contest is open to anyone, so regardless if you are coming to camp this summer (or maybe you are too old :) ), you can still submit an idea.
2: At the end of November we will pick our 5 favorite theme ideas.
3: Then there will be a second round of voting.
4: Whichever theme gets the most votes is the theme for Week 8.
But here is the best part: Whoever submits the winning theme wins 25 dollars in their canteen (or 25 dollars worth of NLR goodies if you won’t be at camp this summer).  Also, the other 4 runners-up win 10 dollars in their canteen (or 10 dollars worth of NLR goodies if you won’t be at camp this summer).
Here are a couple other “Get-To’s” for the contest:
1: You “Get-To” submit as many ideas as you want.
2: You “Get-To” keep them appropriate for all ages.
3: You “Get-To” keep them generic (this means nothing that has a copyright on it.  In other words, no “Harry Potter” week)
Well there you have it!  Spread the word and let the contest begin!
